THE CITY OF C
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT 5
Nun pL£ASANTONo
June 1,2010
Community Development
Engineering Division
TITLE: APPROVAL OF CONSULTANT CONTRACTS FOR ON -CALL
GEOTECHNICAL AND MATERIAL TESTING SERVICES WITH THE FIRMS
OF ENGEO INCORPORATED AND KLEINFELDER, INC.
SUMMARY
The City has an ongoing need for geotechnical engineering and materials testing
consulting services for various projects. City staff advertised to receive Statements of
Qualifications (SOQs) for these specialized services in October 2009. We received and
reviewed 15 SOQs from respondent firms and invited the top four for interviews.
Based on the firms' presented qualifications, interview performance, and responses to
inquiries of provided references, staff recommends that the City Council award
contracts to two firms, ENGEO Incorporated and Kleinfelder, Inc., for services between
July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2013, for a total, aggregate not -to- exceed amount of
$450,000.
RECOMMENDATION
1. Approve consultant contracts with ENGEO Incorporated and Kleinfelder, Inc. to
provide on -call geotechnical and material testing services in the total aggregate
amount not -to- exceed $450,000 between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2013.
2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the attached contracts.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
No additional funding is needed to approve these consultant contracts. Funding for
these contracts is already budgeted under each individual Capital Improvement
Program project previously approved by the City Council.
