Age Many homeless people are youth and seniors: four percent of those homeless in Alameda County are children under the age of 25. Most of the homeless population is between 26 and 60 years of age (71 Fifteen percent of the homeless populations are seniors 61 years old and older (Table 6). This number may reflect underrepresented homeless seniors, who may be reluctant to seek services, due to their physical vulnerability and tendency not to seek assistance.
