CITY COUNCIL JOINT MEETING <br /> OF TRUSTEES <br /> PLEASANTON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT <br /> March 22, 2010 <br /> TITLE: OVERVIEW OF 2010 YOUTH IN GOVERNMENT DAY <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Youth in Government Day provides a wonderful opportunity for students to learn more <br /> about the City and the School District. The City Council and Board of Trustees will <br /> review and discuss the feedback from the discussion groups and recognize the <br /> participating students. <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Youth in Government Day was held as a joint venture between the City of Pleasanton <br /> and the Pleasanton Unified School District on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. Eighty students <br /> from Amador Valley, Foothill, Village and Horizon high schools participated. The <br /> students' job shadowed a variety of personnel from both the City and the District. <br /> Students then broke into eight groups to discuss and provide input on achieving life <br /> balance in their lives. The groups focused on four key areas that influence life balance; <br /> friends, family, school and extra- curricular activities.
