THE CITY OF
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT L•
pL£ASANTONo
March 16, 2010
Community Development
Engineering Division
TITLE: ADOPT RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION
FOR FEDERAL JOBS FOR MAIN STREET ACT OF 2010 FUNDING FOR
THE PAVEMENT REHABILITATION OF VARIOUS CITY STREETS
PROJECT, CIP NO. 105024
SUMMARY
The City of Pleasanton may be eligible to receive potential funding from the federal Jobs
for Main Street Act of 2010 for transportation projects through the Metropolitan
Transportation Commission (MTC) in the approximate amount of $1,590,000. A
resolution authorizing the filing of an application for funds provided by the federal Jobs
for Main Street Act of 2010 is required, stating the City's assurance to complete the
project.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the City Engineer to execute and file an
application with the MTC for federal Jobs for Main Street Act of 2010 funding for the City
of Pleasanton Pavement Rehabilitation of Various City Streets Project, CIP No. 105024.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
Approximately $1,590,000 may become available from the federal Jobs for Main Street
Act of 2010 grants that can be added to the City's street resurfacing program. The total
estimated cost for this project is $1,590,000. At this time, the federal funding allocation
amount to local agencies is unknown. Since the Jobs for Main Street Act is a
reimbursement program, the City would initially use other funds to pay for the
construction, but would be reimbursed up to the full amount of the grant. No additional
local funding is required to complete the project if the anticipated funding level is
approved and unchanged.
