Natalie Amos
From:
Sent: Wednesday, April 08, 2009 5:13 PM
To: Natalie Amos
Cc:
Subject: Don Babbitt/Heartwood Communities,
To: Natalie Amos
Re: PUD- 75/GPA -14, PSPA -3, Don Babbitt/Heartwood Communities, i
My name is Kellen Aura and I live at
I strongly oppose the application to rezone the 6.13 acres to allow six lots on the property for the following reasons:
1) The City of Pleasanton should not consider any further rezone applications that would result in increased traffic on the
Happy Valley loop until it has made good
on its promise of providing a bypass road for the golf course traffic. This was a promise to the residents that dates back
to Mayor Tarver and we are still suffering
with the traffic and waiting for the City to make good on its commitment. By allowing rezoning and increasing the
number of lots to be reduced to 1 per acre, it will
add additional traffic to the loop.
2) Most of the traffic that goes to the golf course travels down Happy Valley road. It is the Map Quest route from most
directions as it is the shortest. Much of the
traffic leaving the golf course will make the illegal left to travel down Happy Valley because it almost never policed,
shorter route, and no speed bumps. Happy Valley
road is a dangerously narrow and windy road. The line of sight issues because of the turns, and the lack of street lights
makes it very unsafe. Add to the recipe allot
walkers, bicyclists etc and it simply would be unconscionable to be considering increased vehicle traffic.
3) The City should deny this application and spend the necessary time and money to work with the County to close Happy
Valley road before the Golf course.
This had been discussed as a viable alternative to direct traffic onto the City streets until they area able to provide the
long promised bypass road. Instead the City
installed speed bumps on Sycamore and Allisal that pushed even more of the golf course traffic down the much more
dangerous Happy Valley road.
4) The City should have had a moratorium on any rezoning appications until the bypass road is complete to keep from
having to fight these battles on an individual
basis. What would be the process necessary to request the City to start this application for such a moratorium?
Respectfully,
Kellen and Erin Aura
1
