Motion passed by the follwoing vote: <br /> Ayes Councilmembers Cook Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Vice -Mayor Thorne <br /> Noes: None <br /> Absent Mayor Hosterman <br /> CLOSED SESSION REPORT <br /> City Attorney Lowell reported that the Council met in Closed Session regarding Pleasanton <br /> Mobile Home Park vs. City of Pleasanton, and provided direction to Legal Counsel. <br /> MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> 14. Proclamation National Blood Donor Month <br /> Councilmember Sullivan introduced and presented the proclamation to Andy Zilla, American <br /> Red Cross Blood Services, Northern Region. <br /> Mr. Zilla thanked the Council for the introduction. He stated that holidays and winter months are <br /> traditionally the most difficult times to maintain an adequate blood supply, and that a donation of <br /> just 1 pint can help to save the lives of up to 3 people. He reported that the 27 blood drives held <br /> in Pleasanton in 2009 produced 1,038 pints of blood. He thanked notable sponsors Safeway, St. <br /> Augustine Church, and Sergeant Pat Walsh and the Pleasanton Police Department. <br /> 15. Amador Valley High School Marching Band Presentation <br /> Councilmember Sullivan presented the Amador Valley High School Marching Band and Color <br /> Guard with a commendation on its demonstration of character, dedication, hard work, and for <br /> bringing great honor to themselves and the entire Pleasanton community. He introduced Ellen <br /> Pensky, Pleasanton Community of Character Collaborative President. <br /> Ms. Pensky said the collaborative is an organization dedicated to promoting and recognizing <br /> exceptional character. She introduced John Grantham, band members, and the parents' <br /> association president. <br /> Mr. Grantham, Amador Valley High School Director of Bands, stated that the 230 student <br /> leaders in the marching band and color guard represent over 9% of the school's student <br /> population. He said students spend not only the fall season as a marching band, but the <br /> remainder of the year as representatives of Amador Valley High School and the greater <br /> community of Pleasanton. Students are charged with presenting their best as musicians and <br /> also as citizens in the way they interact with those around them. He reported that the band <br /> received the Esprit de Corps award at the recent Merced competition for its composure and <br /> City Council Minutes Page 3 of 12 January 19. 2010 <br />
