THE CITY OF 12 <br /> [�L£AS�4NTONo CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> January 19, 2010 <br /> Parks and Community Services <br /> TITLE: APPROVE THE INSTALLATION OF THE PLEASANTON LEADERSHIP <br /> ACADEMY PUBLIC ART PROJECT ENTITLED "VISION CUBE" <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Each year's Pleasanton Leadership Academy class is required to work together to <br /> accomplish a culminating project. The 2009 class chose to design, fabricate and install <br /> a public art piece entitled "Vision Cube." The three dimensional artwork is a stainless <br /> steel /ceramic tile pedestal measuring approximately 3'x3'x2' in size. Individual 12" <br /> ceramic tiles designed by each of the participants of the 2009 Pleasanton Leadership <br /> Academy class were combined with steel framing to create a seat -high pedestal. The <br /> class proposed that the pedestal be placed in the planting area near the main entrance <br /> to 123 Main Street. <br /> CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council approve the installation of the "Vision Cube" public art project at <br /> the entrance to 123 Main Street. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Staff concurs with the recommendation of the Civic Arts Commission. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> All materials and labor associated with this project have been donated by the <br /> Pleasanton Leadership Academy class of 2009. <br />
