OF <br /> THE 10 CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ASANTON. <br /> January 19, 2010 <br /> Parks and Community Services <br /> TITLE: APPROVAL TO PURCHASE THE MIXED MEDIA PAINTING <br /> "MIDNIGHT ON THE BOULEVARD" BY TRICIA LEONARD <br /> SUMMARY <br /> On August 3, 2009, the Civic Arts Commission selected "Midnight on the Boulevard" an <br /> abstract mixed media painting by Pleasanton artist Tricia Leonard, for the 2009 <br /> purchase /lease award. This made the painting eligible for purchase under the auspices <br /> of the City's Fine Arts Lease /Purchase Program. Public input regarding the acquisition <br /> of the painting has been highly favorable. On December 7, 2009, based on positive <br /> feedback from the community, the Civic Arts Commission made its final <br /> recommendation for the City to purchase the artwork. Funds are available for this <br /> purchase in the City's Public Arts Acquisition Fund. <br /> CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council approve the purchase of "Midnight on the Boulevard an abstract <br /> mixed media painting by Pleasanton artist Tricia Leonard, for the City's permanent fine <br /> art collection. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Staff concurs with the recommendation of the Civic Arts Commission. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The total purchase price of the painting is $1,200. Lease payments totaling $300 have <br /> already been made, leaving a balance due of $900. Funds are available for this <br /> purchase in the City's Public Arts Acquisition Fund. <br />
