From: Vicki Rose
Sent: Monday, November 16, 2009 4:19 PM
To: Terry Snyder; Maria Hoey
Subject: Fwd: Redcoats
I'm a long time friend of Mari Kennard. I have supported her through two restaurant
openings and I have seen her struggle with the City over little issues with Redcoats for
years now. Namely the difference in the steps Redcoats must take during business
hours compared to Femando's next door which doesn't appear to have any rules at all
The attention that was given to Brenda (the neighbor down the block) was an incredible
waste of City time but she was allowed to hold court over and over. But unfortunately in
Pleasanton, it usually only takes ONE person out of the 65,000 of us to stop the balls of
progress from rolling.
But the largest by far was when she was not informed during the remodeling of the
building before it opened that there would be a resident living 100 feet away. Now this
resident who chose to live next to three restaurants in a row, Redcoats, Strizzies and
Fernando's, in downtown Pleasanton is being allowed to dictate again how Redcoats
should be allowed to run it's business. It is just not fair. Because of that error, Mari is
held back in creating a thriving, competitive business. With all of that said, Redcoats
deserves to have as much chance of survival in this economy as any other business
downtown. Barone's shares a fence with St. John Court HOA and they have an
unconditional use permit to have music any day of the week, this takes away business
from other downtown establishments, namely Redcoats.
It's allowing one business to thrive over another. Please don't let this continue. Our
downtown is struggling enough.
Thank you for your time and consideration on this issue.
Vicki Salinas
SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL
Provided to the Planning Commission
After Distribution of Packet
Date Distributed: /(i
