BACKGROUND
On March 17, 2009, Council awarded the contract to the lowest responsible bidder,
Wingard Engineering Inc. The project, as described below, has since been completed
and is ready for acceptance.
DISCUSSION
The traffic signal at Stoneridge Mall Road and Embarcadero Court is identified in the
City's General Plan and ranked 4 on the City's traffic Signal Priority List. An existing
agreement between the City and BART required the signal installation prior to
completing the West Dublin BART Station originally scheduled for completion in late
2009. The project consisted of furnishing and installing all required traffic signal
equipment, traffic signal interconnect equipment, signing and striping, and
miscellaneous concrete work, including modification of the existing curb ramps to
comply with ADA requirements. Construction of the subject project is complete and
ready for acceptance.
In an ongoing effort to reduce the City's carbon footprint and deliver environmentally
responsible projects, the newly installed traffic signal utilizes innovative solutions to
minimize power consumption at the intersection. The proposed solutions also result in
reduced operations and maintenance costs. These solutions include:
Light Emitting Diode (LED) vehicle and pedestrian signal heads;
LED street name signs;
LED intersection safety lighting;
Battery powered wireless in- pavement vehicle detection sensors
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approve by:
1,--1-1)/4
Brian Dolan David P.
