approval has been granted by the City Council in accordance <br />with the provisions o£ this Section. <br />(1) Applications for private disposal of <br />Sewage shall be made to the Director who shall forward the <br />request, together with the Director's recommendation, to the <br />City Council for approval, conditional approval, or disap- <br />proval. <br />(2) No private system for Sewage disposal <br />shall be approved unless said system meets the minimum <br />requirements of the Alameda County Health Department and any <br />applicable provisions of City Council policies which may <br />have been adopted, from time to time, regulating such <br />private system of Sewage disposal. <br />(b) All buildings inhabited by human beings which <br />are not more than two hundred fifty (250) feet from the <br />Sewerage System or an extension thereof, and for which there <br />is a grade sufficient to allow gravity Flow, shall be <br />connected to the Sewerage System. <br />(c) All privies, privy vaults, septic tanks, <br />cesspools, holding tanks, or other facilities used for the <br />private disposal of Sewage pre existing at the time of <br />adoption of this Chapter shall be permitted to continue, <br />subject to the abatement provisions in Subsection <br />2- 15.10.03(b) above, and subject to their continued opera- <br />tion in a safe and healthy manner. Any pre- existing private <br />disposal facility which fails, and /or becomes a nuisance in <br />fact, shall be immediately repaired, replaced or abandoned, <br />and the City shall have the authority and all enforcement <br />powers provided in Article 7 herein to require repair or <br />replacement of the same or connection to the Sewerage <br />System. Any replacement private system for Sewage disposal <br />shall require City Council approval pursuant to Section <br />2- 15.10.03(a) as if the same constituted a new system. <br />§2- 15.10.04. CONFLICT WITH THE UNIFORM CODES. In <br />the event of any conflicts or inconsistencies between the <br />provisions of this Chapter and the standards and regulations <br />promulgated hereunder and any provision of the City adopted <br />Uniform Plumbing Code or other building or construction <br />codes, the provisions of such uniform codes shall control. <br />
