EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT <br /> CITY ATTORNEY <br /> THIS EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT is made on December 14, 2009, between the City <br /> of Pleasanton, as Employer (City), and Jonathan Lowell, as Employee (Jonathan) concerning the <br /> City's employment of Jonathan as the City's City Attorney. <br /> RECITALS <br /> A. Jonathan has the education, training, and experience in municipal law. <br /> B. City desires to employ Jonathan as City Attorney of the City of Pleasanton. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual promises expressed herein, City and <br /> Jonathan agree as follows: <br /> 1. Employment. City shall employ Jonathan as the City Attorney of the City of <br /> Pleasanton as provided in this Contract, effective January 4, 2010. <br /> 2. Duties. Jonathan shall perform the duties of the City Attorney of the City of <br /> Pleasanton, including administering the day to day affairs of the City Attorney's office, and shall <br /> perform such other functions as are authorized by the City Council and by ordinance. <br /> 3. Compensation. The annual salary for Jonathan shall be $195,000 effective January 4, <br /> 2010; Jonathan is eligible for a performance bonus in an amount not to exceed five percent of his <br /> annual salary. <br /> 4. Benefits. Except as provided in this Contract, City shall provide the same benefits <br /> (e.g., medical, retirement medical insurance, dental, etc.) to Jonathan as City provides to other <br /> management employees as set forth in the City's Management/Confidential Employee <br /> Performance Compensation Plan (Management Compensation Plan) as the Management <br /> Compensation Plan may be revised from time to time. <br /> 5. Vacation Leave. Jonathan shall accrue vacation leave at the rate of twenty -five days <br /> annually. <br /> 6. Administrative Leave. Jonathan shall be credited with ten days of administrative <br /> leave annually, to be administered as provided in the Management Compensation Plan. <br /> 7. Vehicle Allowance /Cell Phone. City shall provide Jonathan with a car allowance of <br /> $400 monthly. City shall also provide Jonathan with a cell phone and pay for all charges related <br /> to City business. <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br />
