THE CITY OF 7
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pL EASANTON.
December 1, 2009
Community Development
Engineering Division
TITLE: ADOPT RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION
FOR FEDERAL AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT OF
2009 (ARRA) FUNDING FOR THE SANTA RITA ROAD PAVEMENT
REHABILITATION PROJECT, CIP NO. 105023
SUMMARY
The City of Pleasanton is eligible to receive funding from the Federal American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) for transportation projects through the
Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) in the amount of $386,000. A
resolution authorizing the filing of an application for ARRA funding and a statement
assuring completion of the project is required.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City Engineer to execute and file an
application with the MTC for ARRA funding for the City of Pleasanton Santa Rita Road
Pavement Rehabilitation ARRA 2009 Project, CIP No. 105023.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
Approximately $386,000 is available from ARRA grants that can be added to the City's
street resurfacing program. The total estimated cost for this project is $825,000. This
leaves a gap of approximately $439,000 that would be necessary to complete the
project. To cover the funding gap, staff intends to draw from the Annual Resurfacing
project funds, CIP No. 105003, which has been programmed to be funded in July 2010
as part of the Capital Improvement Program budget document (2009 -10 through 2012-
13). After the City of Pleasanton is awarded the ARRA funding, staff will solicit and
recommend award of a construction contract and request authorization to use the
ARRA funds and the programmed CIP funds for the Santa Rita Road Pavement
Rehabilitation Project, CIP No. 105023.
