THE CITY OF 8 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLE ASANTON. <br /> December 1, 2009 <br /> Community Development <br /> Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS PERFORMED BY SOTO <br /> BROTHERS PAVING COMPANY, INC. FOR THE VALLEY AVENUE <br /> PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE PATH PROJECT, CIP NO. 077036 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The subject project consisted of the removal and disposal of existing fence, bollards, <br /> and gates, and the construction of approximately 700 feet of asphalt concrete paved <br /> pedestrian /bicycle path along the south side of Valley Avenue between Case Avenue <br /> and Sunol Boulevard. It also included hydro- seeding of soil areas that were disturbed <br /> during construction. The subject project is now complete and ready for acceptance by <br /> the City Council. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Accept the improvements for this project. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the subject project. <br /> 3. Authorize payment of the retention in the amount of $3,949.74 ($4,424.74 <br /> retention less $475 for project clean -up expense) to Soto Brothers Paving <br /> Company, Inc. thirty days after recordation of the Notice of Completion. <br /> 4. Authorize the transfer of a portion of the remaining funds in the amount of <br /> $45,000 back into the Park CIP Fund balance. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> This project will slightly increase maintenance costs for the paved pathway. <br />
