Therefore, the business association does not have to first give the event ticket to
the City for distribution by the City Manager.
(c) Ticket to the Super Bowl. If a friend of a City Official (elected or appointed, or
City employee) wants to give that official a ticket to the super bowl as a gift to a
friend, the official may accept this gift, and not be subject to this Policy. This is
because the super bowl ticket is being provided as a gift with no claim of public
purpose benefitting the City of Pleasanton. However, as a gift to a public official,
if the official is required to file a Statement of Economic Interest (FPPC Form
700), the value of the ticket and the name, address and employer of the person
making the gift must be disclosed in the Statement of Economic Interest.
In conclusion, the proposed Policy for Distribution of Event Tickets follows the City's
existing practices for the handling of tickets and passes, but will also provide greater
public access to information on the City's website about the use of such event tickets.
The proposed Policy meets all of the requirements of State law, and staff recommends
its adoption by the City Council.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved/
?PM/Wag
Michael Roush p P.
