The Curb and Gutter Project Fund had.$500.00, less <br />amount of warrants issued 6440.73, leaving $59.27 in the Curb and Gutter <br />Project Fund. Reynold, Stanford University advising that a group from his <br />class in sanitary engineering would visit the sewer farm Saturday <br />afternoon, June 1st. <br />May 31st -- Mayor Angelo Rossi of San Francisco, advising that the Western <br />Safety Conference would take place in San Francisco at the Exposition <br />Auditorium on June 11th, 12th and 13th. <br />May 31st -- United Associations of Sacramento County and City, concerning Fourth <br />of July Celebration in that city July 3rd and 4th. <br />June 3rd-- A.B.Silva and L. Sachetti, officers of the Pleasanton Business Men's <br />Club requesting permission to use the City Hall on the first Tuesday <br />evening after the first Monday of each month for a business meeting <br />of the Club. <br />June 3rd -- Telegram of Ed. Silveria, offering a bid of $50.00 on the audit of the <br />municipal books. <br />Before taking a short recess the Mayor introduced Mrs. Harris, president of <br />the women's Im rovement Club who was present from the Club with a committee which <br />included Mrs. Pickard, Mrs. Wm- J. Martin and Mrs. Chas. S. Graham. Mrs. <br />Harris, speaking for the committee and the club brought to the attention of the <br />Council the recent trimming and later the removal of a tree from in front of <br />the place of business of A.D.Irwin on Main Street. Mrs. Harris advised that <br />the Club was interested in the planting and the caring of trees within the <br />municipality and had endeavored At all times to safeguard the trees. She - pointed <br />out that this tree had been removed and apparently without due cause after it <br />had not been properly trimmed. She further advised that the Club was anxious <br />to see someone placed in charge who would.see to it in the future that all tree <br />trimming was properly handled. she said further too, that if the municipality <br />was not anxious to further the Club's project of more trees in Pleasanton that <br />they would withdraw game but of course reluctantly. Mayor Orloff then advised <br />the group that the Town took a special interest in "its trees and in th e <br />tree planting and'that the Council especially wished this activity continued and <br />in the future action would be instituted against persons who not only failed to. <br />trim the trees properly but who assisted in their destruction. <br />A recess followed during which the finance committee examined Claims No. <br />476 to 508 inclusive and amounting to $507.12 as well as the officers' monthly <br />reports. Councilman Rivolta of the finance committee reported that the committee <br />had approved claims No. 476 to 508 inclusive and moved that they be paid. His motion <br />was seconded by Councilman Amaral. He also reported that the finance committee had <br />approved the officers' reports and he moved that they be placed on file. <br />
