100-2 <br />Mr. Nilson's attention to what'had taken place in the discussion and accordingly <br />Mr. Nilson promised to draft an amendment to cover same. Ordinance No. 167 an <br />ordinance ami nding Section 8 of Ordinance No. 68 of the Town of Pleasanton was given <br />its second''rading. On motion of Councilman Madsen seconded by Councilman Garatti <br />it was moved that the ordinance be adopted. At roll call all councilmen were in <br />favor of same and accordingly the ordinance was passed. <br />Councilman Garatti of the Street and Building Committee reported on the <br />condition of the railroad crossings-within the city limits which he described <br />as being in bad shape. He further advised that the section bosses of both rail- <br />roads were unable to do anything about it and he felt that the municipality should <br />reioort the matter to the officers of the railroads and demand attention. Follow- <br />ing a discussion among the Councilmen the Clerk was instructed to write to the <br />bay city headquarters of the railroads at an early date. Mr. Garatti also <br />advised that he did not know what action would be best as regards installing <br />a wig -wag by the Southern Pacific crossing at the Hall Warehouse Company. He <br />directed the Council's attention to the other crossings: being private and that <br />Hall Warehouse `'ompany would have to release same before anything could be done. <br />Attorney Nilson made a number of suggestions as regards the other crossings and <br />it was decided that Iylr. Nilson should inquire further into the matter and <br />endeavor to have a wig -wag installed at the Ray.,Street crossing. Mr. Garatti <br />also took up the matter of traffic signs on First and Second Streets and tlB <br />declaring.of Neal Street. from Main Street to where it concluded a highway. Mr. <br />Nilson was instructed to prepare the necessary ordinance. <br />The .following resolutions were then presented: <br />Resolution No. 1482 -- Authorizing the payment of the salaries of the municipal officers <br />for the month of October and amounting to X745.00. <br />No. 1483 -- Authorizing the payment of ;'1170.00 as interest on municipal <br />bonds. <br />No. 1484 -- Authorizing the payment to the County of Alameda for taxes, <br />first and second installments on the sewer farm property and <br />the camp ground property. <br />No. 1485 -- Authorizing the payment to the Madewell I4ianufacturing Company, <br />in the sum of y200.00 as balance due on order of surface pipe. <br />No'. ].486 -- Authorizing the payment of $147.91 to the Madewell Manufacturing <br />Company for surface pipe purchased during October. <br />The Clerk also presentdResolution 1479 -- authorizing the payment of $292.13 to the <br />Madewell Manufacturing Company as first payment on order of surface pipe, and <br />Resolution No. 1480 -- authorizing the payment to the 1.1adewell Manufacturing Co. <br />of the sum of X12.30 as sales tax on order of surface pipe. <br />Action on these resolutions were then taken as follows: <br />Resolution N.o. 1479 -- Adopted on notion of Councilman Garatti, seconded by Courcilman <br />Madsen with all present in favor of same. <br />No. 1480 -- Adopted on motion of Councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman <br />Garatti and with all in favor of same. <br />No. 1482 -- Adopted on motion of Councilman Garatti seconded by Courcilman <br />IVIadsen and with all present in favor of same, excepting Council- <br />man Madsen who voted favorably on all except the salary of the <br />]mire Chief, on which he voted "NQ ." <br />No. 1483 -- !Adopted <br />Garatti <br />it rt No. 1484 -- Adopted <br />bladsen ' <br />No. 1485 -- Adopted <br />Garatti <br />on motion of Councilman Madsen seconded by Councilman <br />and with all present in favor of same. <br />on motion of Councilman Garatti seconded by Councilman <br />ind with all present in favor of same. <br />on motion of Councilman l risen seconded by Count ilman <br />and with all present in Ivor of same. <br />it it " No. 1486- -Held up until the'December meeting for consideration. <br />Under "new business" Mr. Derrald Bailey appeared before the Council w ith regards <br />to a license fee being- charged him. He directed the attention of the council to a <br />$24.00 license which he paid when he entered business last year and v&%k which time <br />he was not established at any special location. He pointed out that during the <br />past year he had established his headquarters at his home on Augustine Street where <br />he had a telephone etc. and accordingly he felt that he should be charged a <br />$12.00 a year license instead of X24.00 a year license.since ha had an estahlish ed <br />place of business. The Council members-were-very favorable towards I1r. Bailey's <br />suggestion and accordingly on motion of Councilman Madsen seconded by Councilman <br />Garatti and with all present in favor of same it was ordered that Lir. . Bailey should <br />pay a $12.00 license hereafter. The Clerk than asked that the Council cancel Mr. <br />Bailey's $24.00 license which was due as of October 1st and that the $12.00 license <br />
