1076 <br />Councilman Apperson then recommended to the Council that it take under <br />consideration the raising of the clerk's salary. He stated that he regarded the <br />salary now paid as being insufficient for the amount of work involved and he <br />pointed.out that during the past year the collections had increased, that license <br />matters and the collection of personal property taxes had tended to show that <br />these departments were being more efficiently handled and he thought that the <br />added work should receive compensation. <br />There being no .further business the meeting adjourned at 10:15 o'clock <br />to meet in regular session on IvTonday evening, April 16th at 8 o'clock at which <br />time the Council would canvass the electio}�, returns an conduct the business <br />before it. /.f 1/ <br />Clerk <br />Approved: <br />Mayor <br />Pleasanton,. California, April 16, 1934. <br />The Town Council of the Toff n of Pleasanton was called to order„'at 8 o'clock <br />on the above written date with Mayor A. B. Pickard presiding. Present at roll <br />call were :Councilmen Madsen, Orloff, Garatti and Pickard, and absent Councilman <br />Apperson. <br />The $esignation of Ole Olesen as Building Inspector was presented and read. <br />Upon motion of Councilman Orloff seconded by Councilman Garatti and with all <br />present in favor of same, same was accepted. <br />A notice from the State Board of Equalization to the effect that Manuel <br />Oliveria, 711 Main Street, had applied for an "On Sale" Beer and Mine License <br />was read and there being no objections from the Council to same being issued <br />the clerk was instructed to advise the Board with regards to its action. <br />The Standard Oil Company submitted a proposal on Motor Gasoline for the <br />City of Pleasanton for the period April 10, 1934 and ending July 9, 1934. <br />According to same the municipality will be furnished gas 'by that company <br />during that period for4.10625 per gallon-plus state tax. The Clerk was <br />instructed to acknowledge receipt of the proposal which was accepted on motion <br />of Councilman Orloff seconded by Councilman Madsen with all councilmen present <br />in favor of same. <br />The Clerk then advised the Council that on May lst,� 4th munbi.Pal bond amounting <br />to $1000.00 with 17 coupons of interest -at yp22.50 and amounting to §382.50 and <br />the Sixth-11-unicipal Improvement Bond of 1929 amounting to .$1000.00 and 31 coupons <br />of interest at $25.00 amounting to �p775.00 would be due and payable and accordingly <br />a-warrant should be drawn at this time to pay same. He also advised that on <br />account of taxes not being paid very rapidly both bondelf�rrere short of what was <br />required and it would be necessary to draw on the general fund to make up the <br />balance. Accordingly Resolution ldo. 1501, authorizing and instructing the Clerk <br />to borrow from'the General Fund $321.16 for the Municipal Improvement Bond Fund <br />and '$344.25 from the 1929 Municipal Improvement Bond fund was presented. On <br />motion of Councilman Madsen seconded by Councilman Garatti and with all present <br />in favor of same, Resolution No. 1501 was adopted. Resolution No. 1502, authorizing <br />the payment of X3157.50 to T. H. Silver, Town `treasurer., in payment of bonds and <br />interest was presented. On motion of Councilman Garatti seconded by Councilman <br />Madsen and with all present in favor of same Resolution No. 1502 was adopted. <br />The Clerk then presented to the Council one - Absent Voters Ballot'properly <br />sealed which had been applied for and voted - according' to law- and.which would have <br />to be opened at the meeting. The Clerk was instructed by the Mayor to open same <br />before the Council. Said ballot concerned one vote for Duke T. Bonde for Councilman. <br />The Clerk then read the result of the votes cast at the municipal election held on <br />April 9th after which Resolution No. 1503 "Declaring the Result of the Election' <br />was presented. This resolution was passed on the favorable vote of all present. <br />Before concluding- the business of the meeting the Clerk rose and publicly expressed <br />appreciaation to Mayor A. B. Pickard and Councilman Garatti,who were retiring from <br />the Council, for their work through the, years in behalf of the municipality.
