B. Pickard presiding.' Present
at roll call were Councilman Ma.dsal Orloff, Garatti and Pickard.
The 1layor advised the Council that the meeting had been called to consider.a-
no proposition of the Pleasanton Junior 'Chamber of Commerce and to receive a
delegation from that organization. In the delegation were:President, Samuel D.
Glassey, John Amaral, Andrew Greves, William F. Hall and Cyril A. Bairos.
Mr. Greves, speaking for the organization, outlined the proposition of
installing.a dance platform at kcKinley Park. He advised that his organization
had in mind a platform 50 x 70 and that an expenditure of $650.00 would be necessary
for lumber and cement and that he expected the labor to be donated. He pointed
out the advantages to be gained and invited the consideration of t.he. Council.,as
well as its ideas. 1dr. Glassey then brought up the site at the nark which the
committee had in mind and the removal of some umbrella trees near same which he
advised were in bad condition. Councilman Garatti could see no objection to
putting in the.platform and expressed.a willingness to assist.with the work,
because he felt that same would-be a good advertisement for the town. He
advised that precautions should be taken against destroying the hedge at
the paxk and the growing trees. Councilman Orloff could see no objection to
the platform being installed as long as it was properly constructed. He thought
probably a police situation might develop there and directed the Junior Chamber
of Commerce in.sponsoring any affairs to encourage proper crowds to attend. Mayor
Pickard closed the discussion with a few :faVQrablp comments on the project and
also spoke with regards to the care of the grounds and the organization doing
