He also <br />reported to the Council that on account of some of the meters in tenon being . <br />tampered with and the registerst.urned back, that he decided to seal all meters <br />both inside "and.outside of town. He brought up the matter of the water deposit <br />fund money being kept by the Treasurer in the genera l'fund and recommended <br />that some proceedure be deceided upon by the Council so that this money, which <br />rightfully did not belong with the regular town funds, be so keptthat it might <br />be drawn on by the Water Department to settle up deposit accounts when necessary. <br />Some discussion followed as to the proceedure to be adoptzd and it was decided that <br />a resolution "should be itassed authorizing the money to be drawn out of the <br />regular fund and that a dater Department Special Deposit Fund be created. Accord- <br />ingly Resolution No. 1495 was read in which a Water Department Special Deposit <br />Fund 'is hereby created and the Town Treasurer -is hereby authorized and directed <br />to transfer from the General ?Fund to the Water Department Special Deposit Fund <br />the sum of $22.50." The resolution was adopted on motion of Councilman Madsen <br />seconded by Councilman Apperson and with all present voting in favor of same. <br />The City Attorney was directed to prepare a special resolution directing the <br />proceedure for drawing money from this fund by the Clerk and the Chief of Police. <br />In the mean time it was decided that the Clerk should draw this money and keep <br />same in the city vaults until the next meeting. <br />Councilman Orloff of the Laws and Judiciary Committee had nothing to report. <br />Councilman Garatti of the Street and Building Committee likewise had no <br />report to make. <br />The Clerk then notified the Council with reference to the municipal election <br />on Monday, April 9th and presented six applications for a position of election <br />officers. Same were received from Mrs. Edith Ziegenfuss, Mrs. Cecile Gibson, <br />Miss Carolyn Ward, Miss-Dolores Paulo, Mr. Fred Snarey and Mr. Ambrose Rivolta. <br />Following the reading of these applications Mayor Pickard asked the respective <br />Councilmen to select an officer for the election since four officers would have <br />to be named. Councilman Garatti selected Mrs. Edith Ziegenfuss; Councilman <br />Apperson selected Mr. Snarey; Councilman Madsen, Miss Ward and Councilman <br />Orloff selected Mrs. G�li ,Son. The selections were then and the follov ing <br />election board officers: Inspector•Fred Snarey; Judge, -Miss Carolyn Ward; and Clerks, <br />Mrs. Edith Ziegenfuss and Mrs. Cecile Gibson. After a short discussion the <br />Council favored the Odd Fellows Hall as the polling place and authorized that the <br />three precincts within the city limits should be consolidated into one. The Clerk <br />was instructed to prepa3o an official notice of election. <br />Mr. Charles A. Braslan of the Neptune Meter Company was present and made <br />a few remarks to the Council. <br />Messrs. Ole Oleson, Albert VervAis, Jens P. Sorensen and P.F.D. Madsen <br />were also in the audience and were called upon for remarks but they had nothing <br />to offer. <br />Mr. Glassey was also present and took up the matter of gravel in front of <br />his property which had not been cleaned up when the street had been taken care <br />of some months ago. Mr. Rodigues was question with regards to the matter and <br />he expressed himself as feeling that the gravel was needed and accordingly that <br />he had left it there, but he promised to have same removed within a short time. <br />The Clerk then presented the following resolutions: <br />Resolution No. 1492 -- Authorizing the payment of the salary of the municipal <br />officers and amounting to $682.50. <br />1493 -- Authorizing the cancellation of License No. 160 - -Karl <br />Bieler, poolroom 3 tables $16.00. <br />It " " " 1494 -- Authorizing the cancellation of License No.. 146 -- Peter. <br />C. Madsen, -Building Contractor $12.00 License 110. <br />147- -Peter C. Madsen, Concrete Work, 12.00; License <br />No. 148 - -Peter C. Madsen, Plastering and Bricklaying, <br />6'12.00. <br />Action on these resolutions were taken as follows: , <br />Resolution No. 1492 -- Adopted on motion of Councilman Garatti seconded by Councilmen <br />Apperson and with all voting in favor of sane excepting <br />Councilman Madsen who voted favorably on all excepting <br />the salary of the Fire Chief in which he voted "No. <br />1493 -- Adopted on motion of Councilman Orloff seconded by <br />Councilman Garatti and with all present voting in favor <br />of same. <br />1494 -- Adopted on motion of Councilman Orloff seconded by Councilman <br />Apperson and with all voting favorably on same excepting <br />Councilman Madsen who,did not vote. <br />
