IvIcSheeby, President of the Board of Supervisors, City and <br />County of San Francisco, advising with regards.to a meeting on January <br />25th with reference to existing -c ondi t ions covering state liquor control. <br />20th = -Dr. 1. 0. Church, County Health Officer, advising the City Council <br />with regards to investigations made on January 17th of the plant of <br />the Standard Cheese Corporation and the garbage dump of Steve <br />Adamian, both of which received his attention. <br />" 20th =- Edward K. Hussey, Chief Engineer, Civil Works Administration, advising <br />as regards Amador Valley High School district project and the Town of <br />Pleasanton retaining wall along Del Valle Creek north of Division Street. <br />24th-- Ialrs. Larkin Ili. Locke, complaining about tree trimming on Railroad Avenue. <br />25th - -J. W. Grace, Industrial Commissioner of the Western•Pacific Railroad <br />Company objection to an open drainage ditch being put along the right - <br />of -way of, the railroad between Bernal Avenue and St. Marys Street. <br />30th -W. A. Moore, manager of the Oakland District,-California State Auto - <br />mobile Association,taith reference to street signs ordered by sir. <br />Garatti. ° <br />February 2nd - -Zee H. Newbert, of the Pacific Gas & Electric Co. advising with <br />reference to changes made in lights recently ordered by the Town <br />of Pleasanton. <br />Dance permits were requested.by Clay Elworthy on behalf of Pleasanton Post <br />No. 237, Amer can Legion for Saturtday.evening, February 10th, the dance to be <br />given at the 4eterans' Memorial Building, and M. Gratzer on behalf of M. Gratzer, <br />Ballz Senn and Angelo Uliano for a dance to be given on Saturday evening, February <br />17th at the I.D.E.S. Hall. There being no objections to these permits being <br />granted•same. were ordered allowed.- ` - <br />A recess followed during which the finance committee examined Claims 14o. <br />297 to 334 inclusive and amounting to $597.01 as well as the officers'monthly <br />reports. <br />Following the recess after the meeting had been called to order again, <br />Councilman Madsen of the Finance Committee reported that the committee had <br />approved Claims No. 297 to 334 and amounting to $597.01. On his motion, <br />seconded by Councilman Garatti and with all present in favor of same, the <br />claims were ordered paid. Councilman Madsen then reported that the finance <br />committee had approved the officers' monthly reports and he made a motion that <br />they be placed on filed. His motion was seconded by Councilman Garatti There <br />being no objections-same were ordered filed. <br />Action on the communications received were then taken as follows: <br />January 5th -- Southern Pacific Railroad Company, J.E.Gaylord. Communication referred to Councilman Garatti 1 for <br />attention. <br />25th - -J, W. Grace, Industrial Commissioner, Western Pacific Railroad Company. <br />Some discussion followed with regards to this work and it was decided <br />that the Clerk should write to the yi'estern Pacific to the affect that <br />the matter had been temporarily given up and that same would not be <br />attended to at this time unless some assurance was given that the <br />Civil Works Administration committee would O.K. the drainage project <br />sumbitted it. Mr. Garatti then discussed an underground drain from <br />Division Street toward the Arroyo Del Valle Creek and suggested that <br />the County Surveyor be employed to survey the property and to give <br />the town an idea of what might be done to benefit conditions on the <br />streets which would be concerned. This suggestion of Iulr. Garatti <br />was favorably received by the Council. Discussion then followed <br />among the Counciembers with regards to the inattention of the <br />Civil Works Admiilistration to the requests of the municipality. <br />Clerk Schween reported on his letters, phone calls and visits to <br />headquarters and is inability to secure any.information from that <br />source. He also told of a check -up that had been made during January <br />
