Co. <br />59. <br />Gas Tax-apportionment and request <br />to prepare program for expenditure <br />of funds <br />Request to place direction signs to <br />Baptist Church. <br />Request appointment of Planning <br />Commission <br />CC letter to John Mancini approving . <br />method of expenditure of gas tax funds <br />on Main St. culvert. <br />Transmit drawings of .Pleasanton Ave. <br />improvements. <br />Water Analysis <br />Endorse Sewage Disposal Program. <br />Proposed phone rate increases. <br />RECESS was ordered for examination of Claims and Reports.. <br />ACTION ON. CLAIMS: The meeting was again called to order and on <br />motion of Councilman Hansen, seconded by Councilman Oxsen and ap- <br />proved by all Councilmen present, it was ordered that Claims Nos. <br />27 to 56 incl., amounting to ti 1,558.05, be paid as presented. <br />ACTION ON REPORTS: All Officers' reports were approved and ordered <br />filed. <br />ACTION ON COMMUNICATIONS: The Clerk was directed to advise the <br />Chamber of Commerce that the Council would like to have the names <br />of any responsible and capable members of the Chamber of Commerce <br />who would be willing to give the necessary time to serve on a <br />Planning Commission if the Council should create one. The Clerk <br />was also instructed to advise Mr. Vaughn that small signs might be <br />placed, with the provision that they be maintained in good condition <br />at all times. All other communications were ordered filed. <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />LAWS AND JUDICIARY: Chief of Police Delucchi reported that Officer <br />Avilla had returned from his vaction and that Officer Nerton was off <br />for one week. <br />STREETS AND BUILDINGS: Supt. of Streets Medeiros reported that most <br />of the residents of Harris Acres had moved .their fences back 7 feet <br />from the curb. After some discussion it was agreed that these <br />fences must be set back the full 9 feet as accepted by the Town. <br />FIRE DtPT. AND CITY HALL: Councilman Hansen advised that it was <br />time to make the annual payment to the Fire Dept. •He was authorized <br />to install fluorescent lights in the Library, Police Office and <br />outer hallway of the City Hall. <br />CITY ATTORNEY NIKON read an ordinance authorizing and consenting <br />to the transfer of a portion of Main Street to the County as Count <br />Hiway. This proposed ordinance was introduced by Councilman Oxsen. <br />Atty. Nilson advised that he would check on the proposed telephone <br />rate increases. He also stated that Mr. Ramseier did not think it <br />advisable to consider joining the Niles Sanitary District but the <br />Town should apply to the State for a permit to improve the existing <br />sewage disposal plant. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1949 authorizing the Mayor to file application for <br />a permit to proceed with the proposed sewage disposal improvements <br />was adopted on motion of Councilman Hansen, seconded by Councilman- <br />Oxsen and approved by all Councilmen present. <br />PUBLIC UTILITIES: Engineer Sob.iela reported that the second pond <br />at the sewer farm had been cleaned and that he was now pumping the <br />tank and _would fix the leaks in it. Councilman Hansen stated that <br />the Assistant Engineer of the Mosquito Abatement District had said <br />he would like to kill the tales ay." the Sewer Farm. Councilman <br />Hansen was authorized to advise him t ha. t the Council would be glad <br />to have it done. <br />
