55. <br />ACTION ON COMMUNICATIONS: The Clerk was directed to advise the <br />Pacific Tel. & Tel. Co. that insofar as they had not furnished the <br />Town with a record of the location of their cable at Bernal and <br />Pleasanton Aves., the Town was not liable for damage to the cable. <br />The City Attorney was directed to prepare a letter to Forrest Adams <br />stating the conditions under which the Town could supply water to <br />his tract outside the City Limits. The Clerk advised that Mr. <br />Mancini was answering the Div, of Hiways communication relative to <br />expenditure of funds allocated under Project 2. All other_com- <br />mphicati8ns were ordered filed. <br />COIMITTEE REPORTS: <br />LAWS AND JUDICIARY: Councilman Brenner stated that the interior of <br />the jail was to be painted. He requested and was granted permission <br />to leave the State later in the month. Mayor Trimingham stated that <br />he had received complaints that trucks parked in the loading zone <br />at the Pleasanton Furniture Store obscured the view of pedestrians <br />entering the'crosswalk. <br />STREETS AND BUILDINGS: Councilman Oxsen reported that he had <br />checked on the loading zone and found that while it was close to the <br />cross walk, it was not too objectionable and that pedestrians could <br />with a little caution see sufficiently clearly for safety. It was <br />agreed that the loading zone recently established at the Shell <br />Station should be abandoned and that the operator be permitted to <br />put out "No Parking" signs on days he is to receive gasoline de- <br />liveries. Councilman Oxsen advised that the new sprayer worked <br />satisfactorily and that two oil buckets had been purchased with <br />it. He also advised that the Street Dept. would paint the interior <br />of the jail. Supt. of Streets Medeiros reported that most of the <br />vacant lots had been burned and that the Fire Dept. would burn the <br />balance. <br />CITY HALL AND FIRE DEPT.: Councilman Hansen reported that the wiring <br />on the Police and Fire Alarm Systems at the Telephone Bldg. had been <br />fixed and was now in a safe condition. Councilman Hansen waq uthor- <br />ized to arrange for installation of new lighting in the Council <br />Chamber and the Library. <br />CITY ATTORNEY NILSON advised that Federal funds for loans to munici- <br />palities for public works planning were no longer available, so that <br />planningrfor improvements to the Sewage Disposal System must be <br />financed from other sources. Mayor Trimingham stated that he thought <br />the Town should proceed with plans for these improvements. Other <br />members of the Council were in agreement and possible methods of <br />financing were discussed. <br />THE CLERK was instructed to advise Mrs. Johnson that the dedicated <br />sidewalk width in Harris Acres was 9 feet from the curb and no <br />obstructions could be placed in this area. <br />THE FINANCIAL REPORT for the Year 1946 -47 was submitted by the <br />Clerk. <br />ENGR. SOBIELA reported that the meter at the Fair Grounds had been <br />moved to the sidewalk area. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1946 cancelling taxes in the amount of 00.12 levied <br />against the Bank of America N.T. & S.A. as recorded owner of a <br />portion of Ray Street was adopted on motion of Councilman Brenner, <br />seconded by Councilman Oxsen and approved by all Councilmen present. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1945 authorizing payment of salaries in the amount <br />of 02,359.50 for the month of June was adopted on motion of Council- <br />man Hansen, seconded by Councilman Brenner and approved by all <br />Councilmen present. <br />THERE BEING no further business to come before the Council, the <br />meeting was adjourned at 9:55 P.M. to meet again in regular session <br />a t _ 8 : 00 P.M. on August 4, 1947. <br />
