50 <br />MRS. MEYER was present at the meeting and requested permission for 4.tina <br />the Druids Circle to place a -banner across Main St. to advertise their <br />monthly dances. Permission-was granted to hang the, banner at St. Mss <br />Marys Street. Mrs. Meyer also invited the Council to attend a <br />citizens meeting on June 4 to try to arrange for organized care for <br />the local cemeteries. <br />ACTION ON COMMUNICATIONS: An ordinance authorizing and consenting to <br />the transfer of a portion of Bernal Ave., Pleasanton Ave., Angela St., <br />Rose Ava and Division St. to the County of Alameda as County Hiway <br />was read by Attorney Nilson and introduced by Councilman Oxsen. <br />The Clerk was instructed to advise the Full Gospel Conference of <br />the Worlk, Inc., that the Town had no regulations covering conven- <br />tions as such, but that if it were intended to park trailers on the <br />grounds, it would be necessary to comply with the Ordinance control- <br />ling trailer courts. <br />All other communications were ordered filed. <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />LAWS AND JUDICIARY: Councilman Brenner stated that he had just re- <br />turned from an extended trip and had not had an opportunity to ac- <br />quaint himself with recent events. Chief of Police Delucchi reported <br />no unusual happenings and no delinquent taxes. <br />STREETS AND BUILDINGS: Councilman Oxsen reported that he and Council <br />man Mezza had inspected an oiler at Hayward and would investigate <br />further before recommending purchase of a machine. He also reported <br />that the S upt. of Streets had procured 6 loads of lumber, benches, <br />tables, etc., from the Navy dump at the County prison farm. <br />CITY HAIL AND•:F'IRE DEPT. Councilman Hansen advised that a new water <br />heater had been installed in the Fire House. <br />PUBLIC UTILITIES: Councilman Mezza recommended that property owners <br />be requested to clean up vacant lots after burning off the grass. <br />He particularly referred to S.P.R.R. property along First St. He <br />reported that an inspection of the Sunol pipe had been made and <br />considerable moisture was found along the line. Some 150 ft. of <br />pipe had been replaced by the users. He also reported that the 4" <br />pipe on Pleasanton Ave. was completed and that the trenching had been <br />done free of charge by the W.P.R.R. trencher. On motion of Council- <br />man Mezza; seconded by Councilman Oxsen and approved by all Council- <br />men, it was ordered that Jack Pons ,be put on a monthly salary of <br />$205.00 per month. Councilman Mezza advised that pumping the septic <br />tank had been delayed due to press of other work and that the sewer <br />cleaning bill against the Maslow Cooperage Co. had not been cleared <br />due to the absence of Mr. Maslow. He recommended that the Council <br />designate the holidays to be observed by the Street and Water Depts. <br />in order to avoid further confusion and conflicts. <br />how <br />MAYOR TRIMINGHAM brought up the question of /the burning of grass on <br />lots should be handled. The Clerk was instructed to check the <br />existing burning ordinance and the Supt. of Streets was directed to <br />make a list of all lots in need of burning and notify the owners <br />that they must be cleared or the burning would be done by the Fire <br />Dept. and charged to the owners. <br />MR. ROY RAMSEIER was present at the meeting to discuss developments <br />in the proposed sewage disposal program. The possibilities of a <br />line through Niles Canyon or of, pumping to the navy plant were dis- <br />cussed. Mr. Ramseier advised that the deadline for use of State <br />Funds had been set up to June 30, 1951, and that he believed Federal <br />funds were still available for loans for plans. He also stated that <br />an application for permit to improve the existing plant should be <br />filed withtthe Btate. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1944 authorizing payment of salaries in the amount <br />of X2,242.50 for the month of May was adopted on motion of Council- <br />man Hansen, seconded by Councilman Mezza and' approved by all <br />Councilmen. <br />
