Councilman Oxsen also reported that <br />Joe Medeiros had been hired as a utility man.on the Street Dept. <br />He also reported considerable parking congestion at the Post <br />Office and suggested a•15 minute parking limit there. He also <br />suggested parallel parking on both sides of Main Street -from <br />where it narrows down at Neal St. to the S P R R orossing. It <br />was decided that these proposals be given further study. <br />FIRE DEPT. AND CITY HALL: On motion of Councilman Hansen, seconded <br />by Councilman Mezza. and approved by all Councilmen, it was ordered <br />that the Fire Chief and Bldg. Inspector make a survey of all hotels <br />and rooming houses to check for--compliance with State Codes relative <br />to fire precautions. Councilman Hansen commended the Fire Dept. for <br />their excellent showing at the recent Rape trace fire and requested <br />that the Clerk forward a letter of Commendation. He reported that <br />2 new leaks had shown up in the City Hall roof and that a plasterer <br />had been secured to repair the Women's Improvement Club room. <br />PUBLIC UTILITIES: Councilman Mezza reported completion of the con- <br />crete flume at the Sewer Farm and that it was necessary -that the <br />S P R R do some additional cleaning out on the drainage ditch. He <br />stated that further investigation had shown that it would be im- <br />practical to install a pump to take advantage of the small additional <br />capacity available in the ponds. He also reported that 450 feet of <br />4" pipe would be required for Pleasanton Avenue and 1200 feet of 2" <br />pipe for Bernal Avenue. <br />• <br />MAYOR Trimingham reported that the Chamber of Commerce had-requested <br />that the sign at Santa ,Rita be repaired.' Councilman.Oxsen was <br />delegated to contact Ed Nielsen and arrange for the needed repairs. <br />ATTORNEY Nilson reported that the County had refused to pack up a <br />D.T. case requiring medical attention. He suggested that the Council <br />request the Supervisors to arrange for such eommittments. He also <br />advised that two vacancies existed on the Housing Authority Commission <br />and explained the functions of that•Commission. <br />COUNCILMAN Brenner was delegated to contact Supervisor Stanley and <br />arrange for the hospitalization of prisoners. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1936 appoiOting P. Christesen and Ambrose Rivolta to <br />serve full four year terms Commencing January 25, 1947, as Com- <br />missioners of the Housing Authority was adopted on motion of Council- <br />man Brenner, seconded by Councilman Hansen and approved by all members <br />of the Council. ' <br />ATTORNEY Nilson was directed to make a study of possible changes in <br />the Milk Inspection Ordinance to bring it into line with the State <br />Agricultural Code. <br />THE CLERK and Attorney Nilson were directed to investigate the avail- <br />ability of the proposed dump site at the old Remilard Brick plant on <br />the Livermore Road. <br />COUNCILMAN Oxsen was.requested to :.investigate the need of additional <br />street lighting on Angela Street west of Main St. ' <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1935 authorizing payment of salaries in the amount of <br />$1,744.50 for the month of January was adopted on motion of Council- <br />man Hansen, seconded by Councilman Brenner and approved by all members <br />of the Council. ` <br />THERE being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting <br />was adjourned at 10:17 P.M. to meet again in regular session at 7 :30 <br />P.M. on March 3, 1947. <br />er <br />
