17 <br />ACTION ON COMMUNICATIONS: <br />Atty. `Nilson advised in regard to the Cass Street matter that there <br />had been no acceptance of the proposed Street by any public body nor <br />had it been accepted by use as no street actually had ever existed. <br />However, the fact that it shoved on the Town maps constituted a cloud <br />on the title of the property owners. Councilman Oxsen moved that the <br />Council agree to the abandonment of any possible claim to Cass Street. <br />Theumotion was seconded by Councilman Hansen and approved by all <br />Councilmen present. All other communications were ordered filed. <br />Mrs. Huebner was present at the meeting and requested a refund on <br />building licenses issued to P. Huebner in June, 1946. Mayor Triming- <br />ham explained the purpose and legality of the license fees and offered <br />to have the. State Contractor's License Inspector go over the matter <br />with Mr.. and Mrs. Huebner at an early date. <br />Frank Garcia was also present at the meeting and requested permission <br />to hold dances at Hap's Cocktail Lounge. He was advised to submit <br />a regular petition together with :the required fees. <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />LAWS AND JUDICIARY: Councilman Brenner reported that Chief of Police <br />pelucchi was on his annual vacation and cited the need for a .Pedes- <br />trian crossing sign at Spring, St. Mary's and ,Main Streets and re- <br />quested the Clerk to order one sign. He also reported that the Cozy <br />Corner management had verbally requested permission to hold dances. <br />The Council agreed that dancing in bars might be allowed on a trial <br />basis upon payment of the regular dance fee of 1117.50 per night. <br />• <br />STREETS AND BUILDINGS: Councilman Oxsen reported that Supt. of <br />Streets Fredricksen had returned to work. He also reported that all <br />curbs on Main Street had been repaired and the next project would be <br />"sidewalk repairs which would necessitate removal of some trees but <br />was somewhat concerned as to the attitude of the Women's Improvement <br />Club on the matter of trees. Mrs. Harris, who was present at the <br />meeting, stated that she had no objection to the removal of trees <br />where required to repair sidewalks. Councilman Oxsen advised that <br />no word had been received from the County relative to the proposed <br />dump. He also advised that he had investigated the type of dump <br />truck required by the Street Dept. and made a motion that the Atty. <br />be authorized to prepare a specification and request for bids. The <br />motion was seconded by Councilman Hansen and approved by all Council- <br />men present. Councilman Oxsen stated. that Mr. Shackleton, distribu- <br />tor of Signal Oil Products had requested a share of the Town's fuel <br />oil requirements. The Council agreed that the business should be <br />divided between the two local fuel oil distributors, both of whom <br />paid Town licenses. Councilman Oxsen reported no further word from <br />Mr. Longson• relative to the proposed street improvements, and the <br />Clerk was instructed to contact Mr. Longson to expedite his written <br />confirmation of verbal proposals. <br />FIRE DEPT. AND CITY HALL: Councilman Hansen advised that he would <br />have the Fire House roof repaired and that the contractor had promised <br />to start work on the City Hall this month, the delay being due to <br />illness and a large back -log of other work. Councilman Hansen pro- <br />posed that the matter of increased salaries for Town employees be <br />postponed to the adjourned meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September <br />.10, which postponement was agreeable to other members of the Council. <br />ATTY. NILSON read proposed Ordinance No. 198 - An Ordinance Amending <br />Section No. 1, Section No. 11 and Section No. 12 of Ordinance No. 85 <br />'of the Town of Pleasanton and Fixing Rates for the Use of Water. <br />This proposed Ordinance was introduced by Councilman Brenner. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1917 authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement <br />with the County of Alameda. to- provide certain public health services <br />.for the year 1946 -47 we adopted.on motion of Councilman Hansen, <br />seconded by Councilman'Brenner and approved by all Councilmen present. <br />RESOLUTION NO. '1918 amending Resolution No. 1915, and authorizing <br />payment for the new police car, was adopted on motion of.Councilman <br />Brenner, seconded by Councilman Oxsen and approved by all Councilmen <br />present. <br />
