CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA ORDINANCE NO. 1279 ORDINANCE AMENDING REGULATION OF MASSAGE ESTABLISHMENTS AND SERVICES WHEREAS, the City has received more information concerning regulation of trained technicians for home therapy massage; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to permit trained home therapy massage; THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: Chapter 6.24.010(A) entitled "Massage Establishments and Services" of the Pleasanton Municipal Code (PMC) is hereby amended by adding the following subsection: "7. "Home Therapy Service" means any business not licensed as a massage establishment under the provisions of this chapter wherein the principal function is such that a massage is given, engaged in or carried on, or permitted to be given, engaged in or carried on." Section 2: Chapter 6.24.020 PMC is amended in its entirety to read as follows: "6.24.02 Massage establishment and home therapy massage permit - Required. It is unlawful for any person to engage in, conduct or carry on, or to permit to be engaged in, conducted, or carried on, in or upon any premises in the city, the operation of a massage establishment or home therapy massage as defined in this chapter, without first having obtained a permit from the police division of the public 'safety department pursuant to the provisions of this chapter." Section 3: Chapter 6.24.030 PMC is amended in its entirety to read as follows: .6.24.030 Massage establishment and home therapy massage permit - Filing and fee.
