CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1266 <br /> <br /> AMENDMENTS TO CERTAIN SECTION OF TITLE 18 <br /> (ZONING) PERTAINING TO DESIGN R[VIEW <br /> PROCEDURES FOR OVERHEIGHT FENCES (BETWEEN 6 <br /> FEET AND 8 FEET) <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS <br />[OLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Subsection 18.84.090(G) Title 18 of the Municipal <br /> Code of the City of Pleasanton is hereby amended to <br /> read as follows: <br /> <br /> "G) Fences, wall and hedges greater than six feet but <br /> not over eight feet in height may occupy a required <br /> side or rear yard upon approval by the Zoning <br /> Administrator- <br /> <br /> 1) Application for an overheight fence, wall or hedge <br /> pursuant to this subsection shall be made with the <br /> Zoning Administrator and shall be subject to design <br /> review pursuant to Section 18.20.010 of this Chapter." <br />Section 2: Section 18.20.010, Title 18 of the Municipal Code <br /> of the City of Pleasanton is hereby amended to read as <br /> follows: <br /> <br /> ,,Section 18.20,010, Purposes and Authorization. In <br /> order to preserve the natural beauty of the City's <br /> site, to prevent indiscriminate clearing of property <br /> and the destruction of trees and shrubs, to prevent <br /> excessive grading of hillsides and creation of <br /> drainage hazards; to ensure that structures are <br /> properly related to their sites and to surrounding <br /> sites and structures, to prevent the erection of <br /> structures or signs that would be inharmonious with <br /> their surroundings; and to ensure that open spaces, <br /> parking areas, pedestrian walks, and landscaping are <br /> arranged to accomplish the objectives of this Chapter, <br /> plans for all new uses and structures, except <br /> single-family dwellings, and for all directly <br /> illuminated signs, and all signs with a surface area <br /> of 24 square feet or more, shall be subject to review <br /> by the Board of Design Review, and all accessory <br /> structures which exceed ten (10) feet in height, <br /> additions to single-family residences which exceed ten <br /> (10) feet in height and all fences, walls and hedges <br /> greater than six (6) feet but not over eight (8) feet <br /> in height shall be subject to review by the Zoning <br /> Administrator- The ugly, the inharmonious, the <br /> <br /> <br />
