Resolution No. 02-114 Page Two WHEREAS, Proposition 47 is supported by a large and diverse coalition including ACSA, the California State PTA, California Teachers Association, California Taxpayers' Association, California Chamber of Commerce, League of Women Voters of California, Californians for Higher Education, California Federation of Teachers, California Building Industry Association, California Business Roundtable and local teachers across the state; and WHEREAS, the Pleasanton Unified School District has current state funding approval of $7,973,706 for modernization projects either at or near completion that would be funded if Proposition 47 is successful; and WHEREAS, the District has approximately $1,992,000 in eligibility for Walnut Grove that would be funded prior to completion of the project; and WHEREAS, the District has an additional $2,400,000 in eligibility for future K-5 modernization projects for which funds would be provided from Proposition 47; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: The City Council of the City of Pleasanton supports the Pleasanton Unified School District and therefore supports Proposition 47, the Kindergarten-University Public Education Facilities Bond Act of 2002. Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
