Section 20.08.050 Section 1503 Amended in its entirety - Roof-Covering <br />Requirements: <br /> <br />Section 1503 of the California Building Standards Code 2001 Edition (24 <br /> CCR), and including by reference the Uniform Building Code, <br /> 1997 Edition, is amended in its entirety to read as follows: <br /> <br />The roof covering on any structure regulated by this Code <br />shall be as specified in Table 15-A and as classified in <br />Section 1504. The roof-covering assembly includes the roof <br />deck, underlayment, interlayment, insulation and covering <br />which is assigned a roof-covering classification. <br />Roofing shall be secured or fastened to the supporting roof <br />construction and shall provide weather protection for the <br />building at the roof. <br />Notwithstanding other sections of this Code the following <br />roof covering requirements shall apply in the City. <br />Fire retardancy, when required. All roof coverings on all <br />structures shall have a minimum of a Class A roofing <br />assembly. <br /> <br />Exceptions: Buildings of III, IV and V construction which <br />are not located in Hazard Areas, where it may be one of the <br />following: <br /> <br />1. Class C rated roof covering may be installed on <br />buildings of Group R, Division 3 occupancy. <br /> <br />2. Class C rated roof coverings may be installed on <br />buildings of Group U division 1 occupancies of less <br />than 1,000 square feet in projected roof area. <br /> <br />3. Class C rated roof coverings may be installed on <br />buildings of Group R Division I (apartment, <br />condominium or congregate residences only) <br />Occupancies which are not more than two stories in <br />height and have not more than 3,000 square feet of <br />projected roof area, and where there is a minimum of 10 <br />feet from the extremity of the roof to the property line <br />on all sides except street fronts. <br /> <br />32 <br /> <br /> <br />
