Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan Initial Study
Discussion of Checklist Items
Less- than Sign ficant Impact The proposed Master Plan itself would not remove any trees. When
implementing projects of the proposed Master Plan, the location of any trees and their potential
significance, if any, will be considered in the project specific environmental review. It is anticipated that
any future impacts regarding tree removal would be less than significant due to mitigation requirements
of the Pleasanton Municipal Code, Chapter 17.16: Tree Preservation.
In addition, the Master Plan would not conflict with an adopted Habitat Conservation Plan, Natural
Community Conservation Plan or other approved local, regional, or state habitat conservation plan as
no construction is included as part of the proposed Master Plan. No changes within existing roadways
or otherwise developed areas would be likely to have any impacts on such plans, and these impacts
would be less than significant.
Projects due to Master Plan implementation that are located within natural areas could potentially have
conflicts with conservation plans, could have a substantial effect upon an important species, or could
conflict with the movement of any native or migratory species. Such impacts will be considered in
project- specific environmental review under the CalOrnia Environmental ,Quality lct, if warranted, before
project approval.
No Impact. The proposed Master Plan itself would have no impact on any special status species,
riparian habitat, or migratory bird species.
Less Than
Significant
Potentially Impact With Less Than
Sign ficanl Mitigation Siignfcant No
Issues Impact Incorporated Impact Impact
5. Native American sites in
Pleasanton range from large villages to small resources processing areas (e.g. for making acorn meal).
These sites tend to be situated along ridges, on mid -slope benches, in valleys, and adjacent to
intermittent and perennial watercourses. Pleasanton includes all of these features. In addition,
Pleasanton is situated atop a formerly extensive marsh and pond system (the former Willow Marsh).
Archaeological sites in Pleasanton include a prehistoric camp or temporary village; a prehistoric
2
/Allan Guldenbrein, California Historical Resources Information System, February 11, 2008.
Revised 9/4/09 13 9/4/2009
