CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA ORDINANCE NO. 1222 AN ORDINANCE FACILITATING THE RECODIFICATION OF THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON THROUGH THE REPEAL AND AMENDMENT OF VARIOUS OBSOLETE SECTIONS OF SAID CODE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Purpose and Intent. The purpose and intent of this Ordinance is to facilitate the recodification of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton into a more useful and workable document which is less bulky, with ordinances and appendices more accessible to both City officials and members of the general public. This recodification is to include editorial changes to the structure of the Code but not to its substance. Such changes in substance shall be limited to sections specifically repealed and amended, herein, necessary to avoid duplications and redundancy and to update the Code in conformance with relevant current statutes, judicial decisions and principles of common law. To such extent, this Ordinance is not intended to substantially alter the existing Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton in any manner not specifically indicated, herein. During the transition period between the adoption of this ordinance and the publication and implementation of a recodified Code all other existing ordinances of the City of Pleasanton shall remain in full force and effect in their present form. Section 2. Title of Code. Henceforth the title of the codified ordinances of the City of Pleasanton is changed from the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton to the Pleasanton Municipal Code. The abbreviated forms of reference to the Pleasanton Municipal Code shall either be to the "PMCf" or to "the" or "this Code." Section 3. Simplified References. All references to provisions of the existing ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton as repealed or amended by this Ordinance shall be in simplified form as follows: Example: Section 1-2.01 (Meetings of City Council), Article 1 (City Council), Chapter 2 (Officers and Employees), Title I (Administration) of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton shall simply read: PMC Section 1-2.01.
