Approved and authorized the City Manager to execute contract #09 -471C with Artist Jill <br /> Turman in the amount of $41,300 for the design, fabrication, and installation of the public art <br /> signage for the Firehouse Arts Center <br /> Councilmember Thorne stated that the action taken on Item 2 was inevitable but noted that this is <br /> another example of the state legislature interfering in local planning issues. <br /> Motion: It was m/s by McGovern/Thorne to approve Consent Calendar as submitted and as noted. <br /> Motion passed by the following vote: <br /> Ayes: Councilmembers Cook- Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman <br /> Noes: None <br /> Absent: None <br /> MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> 11. Oath of Office for recently appointed Commission Members <br /> Mayor Hosterman called forward newly appointed members of the Parks and Recreation <br /> Commission, Youth Commission, Economic Vitality Committee, and the Committee on Energy and <br /> the Environment. The City Clerk administered the Oath of Office. <br /> 12. Public Comment <br /> Fred Norman asked the Council again how they and the newly appointed commission and <br /> committee members will exercise their promise to uphold the Constitution. He said 1,649 American <br /> troops have been killed in Iraq since he asked the Council to take a formal stance on the war in <br /> September 2006. <br /> Kathy Dowding read the names of the 4 troops killed in Iraq and the 41 troops killed in Afghanistan <br /> since the last Council meeting.
