ATTACHMENT 4
From: Christina
Sent: Tuesday, August 11, 2009 9:17 PM
To: Steve Otto
Cc: Steve Mayhugh
Subject: City of Pleasanton Planning Commission Proposal PCUP -249
Hello. Please note that I am unable to attend tomorrow evenings hearing. However, I
would like to formally express concern regarding the impact of the significant changes
that will occur should a conditional use permit be granted to Barone's Restaurant. My
residence is 545 Saint John St in Pleasanton. I'm a tenant and have included the property
owner in this communication. While I cannot speak to the potential impact to property
value I would like to address the noise, safety, parking and my continued tenancy in this
community. We are directly adjacent to the restaurant property and are already subjected
to a fairly high volume of noise from outdoor music and other events held on Main St.
Approving the request for amendment to construct a permanent stage and modify
operating hours guarantee noise nuisance 7 days a week into the late hours
every evening. These units are currently subjected to a extensive noise nuisance. Had full
disclosure been provided by the leasing agent who handled my rental I would likely not
have signed my lease. I renewed the lease which runs through the end of this year
because moving again represented significant financial investment. Therefore I've
attempted to adjust to the trains, which turns out are not commuter only and the dog
kennel to the north of my unit. Both of these existing noise generaters necessitate my
windows remain closed much more than I'd like. Windows closed to block
noise increases my utility bills and uses energy when we should be conserving. Parking
and safety are additional concerns as we already experience disruption due to Main St
activities. Should this permit be granted I not renew nay lease and should disclosure of
these activities be provided to potential new tenants that could represent occupancy
problems or even a need to reduce the monthly rent. It would be irresponsible for
the Planning Commission to consider approval of this request. If I can provide any
further information that will assist, please contact me at the number listed below.
Christina Sheppard
SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL.
Provided to the Planning Commissbn
After Distribution of Packet
Date Distributed:
