BACKGROUND
In accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Code, staff reviewed attendance
reports from the various City commissions for the period of January 1 through June 30,
2009. The City Manager notified certain commissioners that their absences from
regularly scheduled commission meetings during this period equaled or exceeded the
one -third limitation. The commissioners were contacted and their responses are on file
in the City Clerk's Office.
The City Council is required to determine if a member's reasons for his /her absences
were justified. If the Council determines that the absences were justified, there is no
further action required. If the Council determines that the reasons for the member's
failure to attend the meetings in question were not justified, the City Council shall
terminate the term of office of the member and declare the office vacant.
If the Council declares any office vacant, City staff will notify that commissioner that
his /her term has been officially terminated. The resulting vacancy will be filled in
accordance with the City's regular appointment schedule.
Approved y,
Nelson Fialho
City Manager
