Addendum

to the

Draft Master Plan for the Downtown Parks & Trails System

Introduction

Draft Master Plan for the Downtown Parks & Trails System
The Draft Master Plan for the Downtown Parks & Trails System (DPTS) is a set of
preliminary design recommendations for seven sites in Pleasanton's downtown area. The
Draft Master Plan was prepared with extensive input from a Citizens Task Force
representing a broad range of community interests, was completed and was reviewed by the
Parks & Recreation Commission in July 1999. The Draft Master Plan was then presented to
the Downtown Specific Plan Committee for its consideration in developing a long-range
plan for the downtown area.

If approved by the City Council, the DPTS will serve as a guide for design development and
construction document phases to implement improvements to these sites.

Downtown Specific Plan
The Downtown Specific Plan (DSP) is the primary regulatory document and policy guide for
Downtown Pleasanton. It covers a larger area than the DPTS and its policies are concerned
with a wider variety of subjects, including land uses, transportation, utilities, economic
vitality, and others. By contrast, the DPTS proposes design recommendations for future
improvements to specific parks and trails sites.

The Downtown Specific Plan Committee reviewed the Draft Master Plan for the
Downtown Parks & Trails System, and found it to be ". . . consistent with the Draft
Downtown Specific Plan, . . . " recommending that the City Council adopt the Master Plan
(DPTS), subject to the modifications described in the Technical Appendix to the Downtown
Specific Plan.

Addendum to the Master Plan for the Downtown Parks & Trails System
This Addendum is intended to reconcile the two documents (DSP and DPTS). It is a
summary of modifications to the original version of the DPTS (Draft Master Plan for the
Downtown Parks & Trails System). These modifications were recommended by the Parks &
Recreation Commission at its meeting of June 13, 2002.

Process & Chronology Summary for DSP & DPTS
1989 Pleasanton's first Downtown Specific Plan adopted.
1992 City adopts Downtown Revitalization Plan.

1

III II
