C1TY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, ALAMEDA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 02-064 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING CERTAIN POLICIES FOR THE <br />NOVEMBER 5, 2002 MUNICIPAL ELECTION AND REQUESTING <br />CONSOLIDATION WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 10400 of the Elections Code allows a City to request consolidation of its <br /> local municipal election with a statewide general election; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 13307 of the Elections Code authorizes the City Council to establish <br /> certain charges for handling candidate election materials; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City Council, at its meeting of June 4, 2002, considered the options available <br />under the above-mentioned section pertaining to the length of the candidates' <br />statements and setting rules and regulations for mailing additional materials; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, prior to the November 5, 2002 election, the City Council is to establish a <br /> procedure to resolve tie votes should a tie vote occur; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Bernal Property Initiative has been certified and Council has determined to <br />place it on the November 2002 ballot and in conjunction with that determination, it <br />is necessary to select the ballot language and to designate the due dates for ballot <br />arguments and rebuttals; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: <br />Section 2: <br />Section 3: <br /> <br />Authorizes the City Clerk to request consolidation of the Pleasanton municipal <br />election with the statewide general election on November 5, 2002. <br /> <br />Candidates will be charged $200.00 for the cost of printing and mailing their <br />Statement of Qualifications, payable at the time of filing the nomination papers. <br /> <br />The candidate's Statement of Qualifications shall not exceed 200 words. <br /> <br /> <br />
