No fence, hedge, or other screen planting in a <br /> required front yard in all zoning districts other than <br /> the R-1-20,000, R-1-40,000, and A Districts shall exceed <br /> two and one-half feet in height, except that higher <br /> decorative structures or planting screens incorporated <br /> into an identifiable landscaping scheme may be located <br /> in a required front yard, provided that: <br /> <br /> 1. No such structure or screen shall exceed six <br /> feet in height except decorative gate archways which may <br /> be a maximum of eight feet in height; <br /> <br /> 2. The total lineal dimensions of all such <br /> structures and/or screens shall not exceed twenty <br /> percent of the lot frontage; and <br /> <br /> 3. No structure on the property provided for herein <br /> shall occupy any easement for public utility purposes. <br /> <br /> In addition, no structure or planting of any type <br /> shall pose a traffic sight obstruction as regulated in <br /> Section 18.84.110. <br /> <br /> D. No fence, hedge, or other screen planting in a <br /> required front yard in the R-1-20,000, R-1-40,000, or A <br /> Districts shall exceed two and one-half feet in height, <br /> except wrought-iron, split rail or other similar types <br /> of open fencing may be permitted in the required front <br /> yard setback, upon review and approval by the Zoning <br /> Administrator. Such fencing shall be permitted if it <br /> meets the following criteria: <br /> <br /> 1) The fence shall not exceed 6 ft. in height. <br /> <br /> 2) Where such fencing crosses a driveway, it shall <br /> be set back a minimum of 20 ft. from the face of curb. <br /> <br /> 3) The fence shall be attractive and properly <br /> relate to the architecture of the residence and to its <br /> surrounding setting, as determined by the Zoning <br /> Administrator. <br /> <br />Section 2: This ordinance shall be published once within <br /> fifteen (15) days after its adoption in "The Valley <br /> Times" a newspaper of general circulation published in <br /> the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br />Section 3: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days <br /> after the date of its final passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
