THREE-YEAR GOAL: Increase public access to resources and services <br /> <br />The library serves as the primary information center for the community. <br />Library resources and services should be as accessible as possible so that all <br />residents can benefit. <br /> <br />ONE-YEAR OBJECTIVES: <br /> <br />Ongoing, the Library Services Manager, working with the City's <br />Civic Center Planning Committee, will advocate for adequate library <br />parking in the Civic Center Plan. <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />By March 1, 2002, the Director of Library Services and Keith Wardin <br />will submit a request to Wheels for a bus stop within a block of the <br />library. <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />By June 1, 2002, the Young Adult/Adult Services Division Head, <br />working with Becky Hopkins of the Parks and Community Services <br />Department, will develop a joint program to serve the <br />developmentally disabled. <br /> <br />By June 1, 2002, the Director of Library Services (lead), Circulation <br />Division Head and Library Services Manager, working with school <br />district staff, will develop a pilot delivery system to provide books to <br />students at one school site. <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />By June 1, 2002, the Library Services Manager will ensure installation <br />of a telephone system that will allow patrons to renew items over the <br />phone (e.g., those without web access). <br /> <br />6. By July 1, 2002, the Library Services Manager will ensure installation <br /> of an additional self-checkout machine at the library. <br /> <br />By October 1, 2002, the Head of Children's Services wilt develop a <br />plan for implementing a "Paws to Read" Program in which children <br />read to therapy dogs to improve their reading skills. <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />By December 1, 2002, the Library Services Manager and Director of <br />Library Services will secure funding and add two public access PCs in <br />the children's area. <br /> 8 <br /> <br /> <br />
