The Work Group discussed the recommendations and concluded that the current outreach
efforts sufficed, but it was suggested that staff continue to look for new ways to promote the
grant programs.
In general, the Group was supportive of staff's recommendations regarding funding and
rollover. Staff will work with the Finance Department to determine an appropriate
method to increase the City Grant program funds. It was suggested that rollover funds
only be carried over for one fiscal year, so there is not a false impression of larger funds
available every fiscal year.
The grant cycle for FY 2009/10 will continue with its normal review process with the
Housing and Human Services Commissions; however, it was recommended that the two
groups convene at the beginning and at the end of the process to expand communication
and coordination between the grant activities.
Next fiscal year, we will move closer to a joint application process and synchronize
other activities. Our goal, ultimately, will be to create one grant process for all funding
sources, with the exception of Civic Arts and Youth grants.
The recommendations will be brought to a City Council meeting in December.
4.
