Connie Post
1864 Creek Rd
Livermore, CA 94550
connie@poetrypost.com
April 19, 2009
To Whom It May concern,
I have known Deborah Grossman for many years now. In that time, I have come to know her poetry as well
as her commitment to poetry as a literary art. She shows tremendous enthusiasm for poetry and possesses an
array of skill sets that I feel would greatly benefit the Pleasanton Poet Laureate Program
Deborah has attended and helped to organize many poetry events in the Tri Valley Area. She is always full
of original and new ideas for poetry. She is always finding ways to make things fun and interesting. In
addition, she has excellent communication skills which are also critical to the position of Laureate. She is
very high energy which I believe is a "must" for the role of Poet Laureate.
Her attendance at many writing workshops, and membership in associations with Bay Area Poetry
associations demonstrates her interest in the poetry movement and awareness of poetry as a literary art. Her
publication record in several poetry journals also speaks to her talent as a poet. Deborah has been present at
many poetry readings and local events which I believe shows a commitment to poetry and an authentic
interest in the art. She attends a regular poetry critique group in Danville with me and I have had the
privilege of studying and enjoying her work.
Deborah has assisted me in several events in the Livermore Poet Laureate Program. She is always an asset to
the program and also has a way of making people feel welcome. Recently, she helped me judge the
"Livermore Top Teen Poet" program in April and she also has helped me at my reading series "Wine and
Words." She has provided me unyielding support and I feel her presence has benefited the Livermore
Poetry program in many ways.
She has a wonderful poetry book "GoIdie and Me' which she has read from and presented throughout the
entire community and also in her many travels. I believe her background in journalism and food/ wine
writing also gives her a unique edge in the area of networking and writing precision.
I feel that if selected, Deborah would add excitement, ingenuity, creativity, and spark to the Pleasanton Poet
Laureate Program. I feel extremely confident that Deborah Grossman would be and excellent choice for Poet
Laureate of Pleasanton.
Sincerely
C4
Post
Livermore Poet Laureate
