Having had many discussions with Deborah about the Poet Laureate position, I am
confident that she has the requisite skills to succeed in the position, that she is an idea person
who follows through with positive action. Her commitment to diversity, cooperative program
development, inclusivity, and outreach are the hallmarks of those actions. She has detailed to
me the projects she envisions, how she wants to build on what has already been accomplished,
and how she intends to add her unique touch that each Poet Laureate brings to the program. I
believe her attributes and creative agenda are consistent with the intent of Pleasanton's Poet
Laureate program.
Deborah's selection will advance the standing of Pleasanton's literary community and
regional reputation. I strongly encourage that she be given the honor and challenge of being
the next Pleasanton Poet Laureate.
Sincerely,
Kirk Ridgeway
Pleasanton Poet Laureate Emeritus
(submitted by email)
