THE CITY OF
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pLEASANTON
June 16, 2009
Community Development
Engineering Division
TITLE: ADOPT RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION
FOR FEDERAL AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT OF
2009 (ARRA) FUNDING FOR THE BERNAL AVENUE PAVEMENT
REHABILITATION PROJECT, CIP NO. 095026
SUMMARY
The City of Pleasanton is eligible to receive a second round of funding from the federal
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) for transportation projects
through the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) in the amount of $370,000.
A resolution authorizing the filing of an application for ARRA funding and stating the
assurance to complete the project is required.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City Engineer to execute and file an
application with the MTC for ARRA funding for the City of Pleasanton Bernal Avenue
Pavement Rehabilitation ARRA 2009 Project, CIP No. 095026.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There is a fixed amount of approximately $370,000 available from the ARRA grants that
can be added to the City's street resurfacing program. The total estimated cost for this
project is $605,000. This leaves a gap of approximately $235,000 that would be
necessary to complete the project. To cover the funding gap staff will draw from unused
Annual Resurfacing project funds, CIP No. 085003. After the City of Pleasanton is
awarded the ARRA funding, staff will solicit and recommend award of a construction
contract and request authorization to use the ARRA funds for the Bernal Avenue
Pavement Rehabilitation Project, CIP No. 095026.
