CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1560 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1508 AND <br /> SECTION 9.30.070 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE <br /> CITY OF Pr~ASANTON CONCERNING VOLUNTARY <br /> REDUCTIONS IN WATER USE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Pleasanton has adopted, <br /> as an emergency measure, Ordinance No. 1508, to preserve <br /> the public peace, health, safety, property and the <br /> general welfare, for the reasons set forth in the <br /> recitals and Section 9.30,010 of Ordinance No. 1508; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in March 1992, Zone 7, the City's water wholesaler, was <br /> informed that water deliveries from the State Water <br /> Project would only reach 45% of requested demand; and. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, given the reduction in the State surface water supplies, <br /> Zone 7 has forecast that they can supply the valley's <br /> water demand this s,,mmer by using the State water, local <br /> runoff in Lake del Valle, and groundwater; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, due to the level of extraction in the ground water basin <br /> last summer, Zone 7 has requested all retailers to adopt <br /> a 10% reduction in demand to help the basin to recover. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ORDAINS <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Ordinance 1508 and Section 9.30.70 of the Pleasanton <br /> Municipal Code are hereby amended in its entirety to read <br /> as follows: <br /> <br /> 9.30.070. STAGE I-A: 10% VOLUNTARY REDUCTION IN WATERUSE. <br /> <br /> The Director may declare a Stage I-A reduction in water <br /> use and thereby impose a voluntary reduction in water use <br /> as follows: <br /> <br /> A. Every customer shall use no more water than the customer <br /> used during the comparable billing period in 1990, and <br /> every customer shall eliminate wasting potable water in <br /> an effort to aid the City in achieving a ten percent <br /> (10%) reduction in the amount of water used by all <br /> customers during comparable billing periods in 1990. New <br /> customers shall not use in excess of ninety percent of <br /> the City's estimated consumption for similar customers. <br /> <br /> 1 <br /> <br /> <br />
