CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA ORDINANCE NO. 1560 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1508 AND SECTION 9.30.070 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF Pr~ASANTON CONCERNING VOLUNTARY REDUCTIONS IN WATER USE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Pleasanton has adopted, as an emergency measure, Ordinance No. 1508, to preserve the public peace, health, safety, property and the general welfare, for the reasons set forth in the recitals and Section 9.30,010 of Ordinance No. 1508; and WHEREAS, in March 1992, Zone 7, the City's water wholesaler, was informed that water deliveries from the State Water Project would only reach 45% of requested demand; and. WHEREAS, given the reduction in the State surface water supplies, Zone 7 has forecast that they can supply the valley's water demand this s,,mmer by using the State water, local runoff in Lake del Valle, and groundwater; and WHEREAS, due to the level of extraction in the ground water basin last summer, Zone 7 has requested all retailers to adopt a 10% reduction in demand to help the basin to recover. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Ordinance 1508 and Section 9.30.70 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code are hereby amended in its entirety to read as follows: 9.30.070. STAGE I-A: 10% VOLUNTARY REDUCTION IN WATERUSE. The Director may declare a Stage I-A reduction in water use and thereby impose a voluntary reduction in water use as follows: A. Every customer shall use no more water than the customer used during the comparable billing period in 1990, and every customer shall eliminate wasting potable water in an effort to aid the City in achieving a ten percent (10%) reduction in the amount of water used by all customers during comparable billing periods in 1990. New customers shall not use in excess of ninety percent of the City's estimated consumption for similar customers. 1
