If the building owner desires not to reinforce the <br /> building, the City's existing process for staff and <br /> City Council review of a demolition permit shall <br /> apply. Each building shall be reviewed <br /> independently to determine its contribution to the <br /> downtown. All demolition permit for buildings <br /> downtown shall be reviewed by the City Council to <br /> insure that all alternatives have been explored. <br /> C. Step 3: <br /> If a property owner does not begin nor complete the <br /> required reinforcement within the applicable time frame, <br /> the Building Official shall have the authority to <br /> prohibit the occupancy of the building until the repairs <br /> have been completed. <br /> 20.52,060 Scope <br /> A. General. The provisions of this chapter subject to the <br /> limitations of subsections (B) and (C) of this section <br /> shall apply to existing buildings having at least one <br /> unreinforced masonry bearing wall.
