B. Said Code is the Uniform Building Code, 1991 <br /> Edition, and all appendices thereto, published by <br /> the International Conference of Building Officials, <br /> including A17.1, 1984, Safety Code for Elevators <br /> and Escalators, including Supplements A17.1a-1985, <br /> A17.1b-1985, A17.1c-1986, A17.1d-1986 and A17.1e- <br /> 1987, published by the American Society of <br /> Mechanical Engineers. Three copies of this Code are <br /> on file with the city clerk for use by the public. <br /> <br />C. For the purposes of this Chapter, all references in <br /> the Uniform Building Code to "Building Official" <br /> shall mean the Director of Building Inspection, or <br /> in the absence of the Director, the Interim, <br /> Temporary or Acting Director of Building <br /> Inspection. <br /> <br />20.08.035 Section 2504 added - Stresses <br />Section 2504(a) is added to the City of Pleasanton <br />Municipal Code to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 2504(a]. General. Except as hereinafter <br /> provided, stresses shall not exceed the allowable unit <br /> stresses for the respective species and grade or <br /> fabricated products as set forth in the 1991 Edition of <br /> the National Forest Products Association, National Design <br /> Specification (NDS) and the NDS Supplement for lumber, <br /> and for structural glued-laminated timber. <br /> The values for Fb and Fc for visually graded structural <br /> lumber and for machine stress-rated lumber are to be <br /> tabulated from the National Design Specification and <br /> Supplement for the design of structures when the strength <br /> of an individual member is premised on the assumption <br /> that each individual piece carries its design load. <br /> The repetitive member design values for Fb shall be <br /> tabulated from the National Design Specification and <br /> Supplement for the design of an assembly of repetitive <br /> framing such as joists, rafters and studs not over 4 <br /> inches in thickness spaced not more than 24 inches, not <br /> less than three in number and joined by transverse load- <br /> distributing elements adequate to support the design <br /> load. <br /> <br /> Values for species and grades not tabulated shall be <br /> approved by the building official. <br /> <br /> <br />
