B. Said Code is the Uniform Building Code, 1991 Edition, and all appendices thereto, published by the International Conference of Building Officials, including A17.1, 1984, Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators, including Supplements A17.1a-1985, A17.1b-1985, A17.1c-1986, A17.1d-1986 and A17.1e- 1987, published by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Three copies of this Code are on file with the city clerk for use by the public. C. For the purposes of this Chapter, all references in the Uniform Building Code to "Building Official" shall mean the Director of Building Inspection, or in the absence of the Director, the Interim, Temporary or Acting Director of Building Inspection. 20.08.035 Section 2504 added - Stresses Section 2504(a) is added to the City of Pleasanton Municipal Code to read as follows: Section 2504(a]. General. Except as hereinafter provided, stresses shall not exceed the allowable unit stresses for the respective species and grade or fabricated products as set forth in the 1991 Edition of the National Forest Products Association, National Design Specification (NDS) and the NDS Supplement for lumber, and for structural glued-laminated timber. The values for Fb and Fc for visually graded structural lumber and for machine stress-rated lumber are to be tabulated from the National Design Specification and Supplement for the design of structures when the strength of an individual member is premised on the assumption that each individual piece carries its design load. The repetitive member design values for Fb shall be tabulated from the National Design Specification and Supplement for the design of an assembly of repetitive framing such as joists, rafters and studs not over 4 inches in thickness spaced not more than 24 inches, not less than three in number and joined by transverse load- distributing elements adequate to support the design load. Values for species and grades not tabulated shall be approved by the building official.
