CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1571 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ~ 3.28 OF THE pT~ASANTON <br /> MUNICIPAL CODE BY REVISING THE TITLE THEREOF AND ADDING <br /> TO CXqAPTER 3.28 SECTION 3.28.030, CONCERNING THE CARE, <br /> RESTITUTION, SALE OR DESTRUCTION OF UNCLAIMED PROPERTY <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The title of Chapter 3.28 of the Pleasanton Municipal <br />.... Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "Chapter 3-28 <br /> Purchasing and Disposition of Property" <br /> <br />Section 2: Section 3.28.030 is hereby added to the Pleasanton- <br /> Municipal Code to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "Section 3.28,030 Care, Restitution, Sale or Destruction <br /> of Unclaimed Property. <br /> <br /> A. Unclaimed property as defined in Penal Code 1411 <br /> and held by the Pleasanton Police Department for a <br /> period of at least three months shall be sold at a <br /> public auction to the highest bidder. At least <br /> five (5) days~Prior to the date of the auction, a <br /> notice of the auction shall be published in a <br /> newspaper of general circulation, <br /> <br /> B. If the City's purchasing agent determines that any <br /> such unclaimed property held by the City for sale <br /> is needed for a public use, such property may be <br /> retained by the City and need not be sold. <br /> Property retained by the City shall thereafter not <br /> be redeemed by the owner or by any other person <br /> entitled to possession- <br /> <br /> <br />
