Ordinance No. 1730 <br />Page Three <br /> <br /> 11.54.030 Regulations for use in roadways. <br /> <br /> Skateboards, in-line skates and similar nonmotorized devices propelled or ridden <br /> in the roadways are subject to Vehicle Code Section 2 1967, and must: <br /> <br /> A. Stop at all stop signs and red signals; <br /> B. Yield to all vehicles at yield signs; <br /> C. Yield to pedestrians at marked and unmarked crosswalks; <br /> D. Not impede traffic or interfere with the flow of vehicular traffic; <br /> E. Yield to approaching vehicles when entering any roadway; <br /> F. Not be towed by a motor vehicle at any speed nor by a bicycle at any <br /> unsafe speed; <br /> G. Yield bicycle lanes to bicycles and not use bicycle lanes in any way <br /> contrary to the free and open use of those lanes by bicyclists; <br /> H. Not suddenly leave a curb or other place of safety and travel into the path <br /> of a vehicle which is so close as to constitute an immediate hazard. <br /> <br /> 11.54.040 Regulations for use on sidewalks. <br /> <br /> When skateboarding or in-line skating on sidewalks on which skateboarding or <br /> in-line skating is permitted, persons riding skateboards, in-line skating or <br /> propelling similar nonmotorized devices shall: <br /> <br /> A. Yield to all other pedestrians; <br /> B. Proceed with due care and at a safe speed when in the presence of <br /> pedestrians or on any sidewalk where there is the possibility of a pedestrian <br /> suddenly emerging into the sidewalk from a business or residence." <br /> <br /> Section 3: A summary of this ordinance shall be published once within fifteen (15) days after <br /> its adoption in "The Tri-Valley Herald," a newspaper of general circulation <br /> published in the City of Pleasanton, and the complete ordinance shall be posted for <br /> fifteen (15) days in the City Clerk's office within fifteen (15) days after its <br /> adoption. <br /> <br /> Section 4: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after the date of its final passage <br /> and adoption. <br /> <br /> INTRODUCED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pleasanton on <br /> December 2, 1997. <br /> <br /> <br />
