~,%~,,,,,~ CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASNON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA ORDNANCE NO. 1729 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A REVISED GROWTH MANAGEMENT PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has had a growth management program in some form since 1978; and WHEREAS, in 1996 the City of Pleasanton adopted a comprehensively revised General Plan which, among other things, provided for a review of the City's growth management policies; and WHEREAS, an ad hoc growth management committee studied the existing growth management program and options for addressing issues raised both in the existing program's implementation and the ability of the program to meet the community's needs and desires; and WHEREAS, the committee recommended a comprehensively revised growth management program; and WHEREAS, the City Council reviewed this matter at a November 17, 1997, workshop meeting, at which it took public testimony; and WHEREAS, the City Council further reviewed this matter at its duly noticed November 18, 1997, meeting, at which it took further public testimony; and WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that detailed discussions are continuing with the San Francisco Water Department concerning its Bernal Avenue project; that the Water Department's project phasing, growth management needs, and the application of the provisions of this ordinance to the project are subjects of the discussions; and that it is uncertain at this time whether the needs of the Water Department can be adequately addressed without an amendment to this ordinance; and WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the need for flexibility in addressing the San Francisco Water Department's concerns regarding growth management and is committed to working with the Water Department to resolve those concerns through the ongoing discussions between the parties. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: The City Council hereby repeals in its entirety Chapter 17.36 (Growth Management Program).
