~,%~,,,,,~ CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASNON <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDNANCE NO. 1729 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A REVISED GROWTH <br /> MANAGEMENT PROGRAM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has had a growth management program in some form since 1978; <br /> and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in 1996 the City of Pleasanton adopted a comprehensively revised General Plan which, <br /> among other things, provided for a review of the City's growth management policies; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, an ad hoc growth management committee studied the existing growth management <br /> program and options for addressing issues raised both in the existing program's <br /> implementation and the ability of the program to meet the community's needs and desires; <br /> and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the committee recommended a comprehensively revised growth management program; <br /> and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council reviewed this matter at a November 17, 1997, workshop meeting, at <br /> which it took public testimony; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council further reviewed this matter at its duly noticed November 18, 1997, <br /> meeting, at which it took further public testimony; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that detailed discussions are continuing with the San <br /> Francisco Water Department concerning its Bernal Avenue project; that the Water <br /> Department's project phasing, growth management needs, and the application of the <br /> provisions of this ordinance to the project are subjects of the discussions; and that it is <br /> uncertain at this time whether the needs of the Water Department can be adequately <br /> addressed without an amendment to this ordinance; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the need for flexibility in addressing the San Francisco Water <br /> Department's concerns regarding growth management and is committed to working with <br /> the Water Department to resolve those concerns through the ongoing discussions between <br /> the parties. <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS <br /> FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1: The City Council hereby repeals in its entirety Chapter 17.36 (Growth <br /> Management Program). <br /> <br /> <br />
