6.40.140 Driver's Permit - Requirements. <br /> <br /> The Chief of Police shall not issue a Driver's Permit: <br /> <br /> A. If the applicant is under twenty-one (21) years of age. <br /> <br /> B. If the applicant does not possess a valid license issued by the State of California of <br />the appropriate class. <br /> <br /> C. If the applicant has been convicted of reckless driving or driving while under the <br />influence of intoxicating beverages or drugs within the past seven years, from the date of <br />application. <br /> <br /> D. If the applicant has been convicted of a felony or crime involving moral turpitude. <br /> <br /> E. If the applicant, having submitted to a drug/alcohol test in accordance with Section <br />53075.5 of the Government Code, receives a positive test result. <br /> <br />6.40.150 Driver's Permit - Issuance. <br /> <br /> Upon satisfying the requirements of this Chapter, the Chief of Police shall issue a Driver's <br />Permit to the applicant which shall bear the name, address, age, signature and photograph of the <br />applicant. <br /> <br />6.40.160 Driver's Permit- Display. <br /> <br /> Every driver issued a Permit under this chapter shall post his or her Driver's Permit in full <br />view of all passengers. <br /> <br />6.40.170 Driver's Permit - Temporary <br /> <br /> The Chief of Police may grant a temporary Permit to operate a taxicab pending final <br />action on any application for a permanent Driver's Permit as provided in this Chapter, but no <br />such temporary Permit may be issued to any person who does not have a valid license issued by <br />the State of California for the appropriate class. This temporary Permit shall authorize the driver <br />thereof to drive any such vehicle for a period of thirty (30) days. <br /> <br /> Page 11 <br /> <br /> <br />
